About Adult Chamber Festival

The NH Chapter of ASTA is sponsoring a one day Chamber Festival for adult string players. The purpose of this event is to give adult amateur string players the opportunity to experience playing in a chamber music group. the festival is designed with three groups (levels). Lunch will be provided. Depending on response we will add string quartets as needed. All questions should be sent to Ben Greene. bengreene820@gmail.com. The cost for the event is $50. Check should be made out to NHASTA and mailed to Ben Greene 127 South St. Concord NH. Registration deadline is August 1, 2023.
Participants will self-select (with teacher guidance when applicable) for the level of ensemble with which they would like to play. Please see example music list below (preview scores or links to previews and information at Stanton’s Sheet Music provided when available) to help guide your selection. Participants will be provided with appropriate sheet music after registration, with plenty of time to practice their parts prior to the festival. If additional chamber groups are added due to registration numbers, the difficulty will closely correspond with the examples below.
Level 1 is a string orchestra and the music level is for less experienced players. Possible example scores available for preview at Stanton’s Sheet Music are as follows:
Brandenburg Concerto #5, 1st movement, J.S. Bach, Arr. Merle Isaac
Dance of The Tumblers, Rimsky-Korsakov, Arr. Richard Stephen
Can Can from Orpheus in The Underworld, Offenbach, arr. Dackow
When Johnny Comes Marching Home, arr. Richard Stephen
Level 2 String quartet playing an easier Mozart quartet or something of similar level.
String Quartet No. 3 in G Major, K. 156, Mozart
Level 3 More advanced music such as Brahms, Beethoven and many others.
